Most of the private event calls we take at The White Barn at Padgett Place are not about weddings. They are about a company dinner, a family reunion, or a quinceañera, and the person calling usually says a version of the same thing. They want the day to feel like it belongs to them. That part is easy for us to answer, because we only host one event at a time. For the hours you are booked, the barn, the patio, the gazebo, and the parking lot belong to your group and nobody else.

Planning gets easier when you make decisions in the right order. Guest flow first, then spaces, then food and drinks, then the details most people start worrying about far too early. We sit on 33 acres in Lacey's Spring, in North Alabama, about 20 minutes from downtown Huntsville. You have a 6,800 square foot barn that is heated and cooled, a covered patio that is climate controlled, a gazebo by the water, and a 10-acre lake behind all of it. Those are your building blocks. Here is how to use them.

Start With How the Day Will Actually Run

Before you think about linens or lighting, write out the shape of your event hour by hour. Arrival and mingling, the sit-down portion, then whatever comes after, whether that is dancing, speeches, or a slow wind down. Wedding day bookings here include 12 hours of access, which is enough room to set up without rushing and pack out without watching the clock. For other event types, ask us about your access window when you request the pricing guide, because that single number shapes your whole timeline.

Pick Your Spaces, Inside and Out

The barn is your anchor. It is heated and cooled, so a July reunion and a January company dinner run the same way, and that is why we stay open through every season. The indoor mezzanine works for dancing, and so does the covered patio if your group would rather be outside with the air. Out on the property, you have a gazebo by the water, a concrete aisleway for a formal entrance, and a choice of three arbors. Most groups end up using two or three spaces instead of one. Guests get a change of scenery, and the photos stop looking the same.

Build Food and Drinks Around the Kitchen and Bar Room

Ask your caterer one question early: what do they need on site? We have a fully equipped warming kitchen, so your team has a real space to work from instead of a folding table in the corner. The bar room is large, and the bar itself is built in, with a kegerator, a tap, a 500-pound ice machine, and an outdoor access window so drinks can be handed out without pulling everyone back indoors. If you do not have vendors lined up yet, we keep a list of caterers, florists, photographers, DJs, and musicians we trust and are happy to point you toward them.

Think Through Arrival, Comfort, and Vendor Access

Guest comfort is mostly logistics, and logistics are where events quietly go sideways. The parking lot is paved, and we run a golf cart concierge so nobody has a long walk in dress shoes. Vendors get a private entrance and their own parking, which keeps the catering van out of your arrival photos. There are four restrooms, including a designated family and handicap restroom, and that matters more than people expect once older relatives and small kids are on the guest list. One White Barn employee is on site for support, so when something needs a hand, it does not have to be yours.

Walk the Decor Closet Before You Buy Anything

This is the tip we repeat the most. Your booking includes complimentary access to our decor closet, and it is an extensive one. Walk it before you order a single centerpiece. Our team can help with installations, styling, and floral arrangements, and we handle the custom floorplan, the hard set, and the takedown. Tables and chairs come with your rental, including 25 sixty-inch round tables.
